The Process

From registration to payment — here is how it works.

A clear, structured process that works for contractors, subcontractors, and the agencies placing them. No ambiguity. No unnecessary complexity. Just a straightforward payroll administration system that does what it says.

Our Approach

A process built around clarity at every stage

Payroll administration in the construction sector involves more moving parts than most industries. CIS status, varying deduction rates, changing sites and agencies, multiple payment schedules — it adds up. We've built a process that handles all of this in a structured, documented way that gives contractors and agencies confidence from day one.

The four-step process

Registration

Getting you set up correctly from the start

Before any payment is processed, we collect the information required to set up your payroll record accurately. This typically includes identity documentation, National Insurance details, UTR (for CIS), and your bank details for payment.

For CIS workers, we verify your registration status with HMRC before processing any payment. This step is not optional — it determines the deduction rate that applies to your work, and accuracy here matters.

Typically Required
Full legal name and address
National Insurance number
UTR (for CIS subcontractors)
CIS registration confirmation
Bank account details
Right to work documentation
Agency or employer contact details
Submit Details

Confirming your engagement and payment structure

Once registered, we confirm the details of your engagement with your agency or employer. This includes the agreed payment rate, the labour and materials breakdown (where applicable for CIS), and the payment schedule.

For umbrella workers, we also confirm the employment terms at this stage, including how holiday pay and statutory entitlements are handled.

What We Confirm

The agreed payment rate, the applicable payroll framework (CIS or umbrella), the deduction rate or margin that will apply, the payment schedule, and any specific terms related to your particular engagement.

Nothing about your payment structure should come as a surprise. If you don't understand something at this stage, ask. We will explain it clearly.

Work & Submit

Working your assignment and submitting hours

Once you're on site and working, timesheets or payment schedules are submitted through your agency or directly to us, depending on your arrangement. We work to whatever process your agency has in place.

We process payment runs to fixed schedules. If your hours are submitted on time, your payment will be processed on time. We don't create delays.

Contractor & Agency Workflows

Contractors

Submit timesheets through your agency, receive confirmation of hours accepted, and expect payment on your agreed schedule date.

Agencies

Submit approved timesheets to us by agreed cut-off times. We process the run and confirm completion. You are notified of any exceptions before payment is made.

Get Paid

Payment and clear documentation on every cycle

Payment is made to your nominated bank account on the agreed schedule date. A payslip is issued showing every figure — gross, deductions, and net.

For CIS workers, your deduction statement is included with your payslip. This forms part of your personal tax records. Retain it for your self-assessment return.

Your Payslip Includes

CIS Payslip

Gross payment, labour element, deduction rate, CIS amount deducted, net pay

Umbrella Payslip

Gross assignment income, employer's NIC, umbrella margin, gross taxable pay, income tax, employee's NIC, net pay
